"Hero" by Peter Rubino |
Peter,
I wanted to personally thank you for the amazing work that you did in developing our "Hero" statue this year. The sculpture perfectly captured the essence of our company's focus, which is on supporting the brave men and women of the fire services.
The 3 foot Hero statue titled captures a heroic moment of a firefighter in action, emerging safely from the flames, outfitted with Scott Safety equipment. Further, it did a great job weaving in the American Flag and Bald Eagle, representing Scott Safety's "Made in the USA" commitment on all of our Air-Pak SCBA.
As you know, we have placed this in a prominent position in the front lobby of our main offices in Monroe, NC, and it was a highlight of our recent "Choice of the Brave" week, which celebrated our brand and our commitment to our customers. Since that time, it has been recognized by employees and customers alike and is a great reminder to all of our employees of the work we do.
You were a terrific partner along the way, and I couldn't be more pleased with the results of our effort together.
Thank you, Jeff Emery

Brookgreen Gardens Workshop
Sculpting a Life-size Female Torso
July 13-17 (Mon-Fri)
Utilizing a fresh and functional sculptural language
Peter Rubino will bring participants on a technical and artistic
journey toward understanding the dynamic and creative
forces in figurative sculpture. The first three days will focus
on developing and finishing a 24 to 30 inch female torso using
water-based clay. Day one, participants will learn how to build
a clay foundation utilizing an easy to follow, step-by-step
method of arranging simple clay block shapes according to
the position, proportion, and planes of the model. Once the
foundation and movement of the pose are set in clay, students
will begin shaping the anatomy and forming their clay figures.
Tooling techniques, detail, and surface treatment will be
covered on days two and three, bringing the torso to a
dramatic completion. Days four and five are dedicated to
sculpting a large hand and foot with an option to continue
working on the torso. Daily demonstrations, group lessons
and personalized attention combined with technical training
will give each student a comprehensive and inspiring learning
experience. Additionally, Peter Rubino will discuss how to
hollow, fire, patina, and mount finished sculptures.
